Splitting Rust-Frozen Nuts Without Ruining the Bolt

The Nut Cutter removes nuts that have rusted solid in the wet underground environment. Forcing them with a wrench snaps the bolt, and when space is tight a wrench will not fit anyway. The hydraulic cutter drives a blade against the side of the nut until the nut splits and releases, leaving the bolt thread intact so a new nut can be fitted. It works in coal mines, steel mills, chemical plants, and bridges.

Six models cover bolt diameters from M16 to M48: NC-2432 through NC-6075, matching nut across-flats from 24 to 75 mm. Output force runs 150 to 900 kN, all at 63 MPa rated pressure. The blade material and heat treatment are the company own, and the edge handles both ordinary and high-strength nuts; the company reports an M39 high-strength nut can be cut more than 50 times per edge regrind.

The cutter pairs with the QYB-1.5/63 pneumatic pump or the SYB-2S hand pump, and the company notes a customer in a gold mine uses it for underground equipment repair. One push splits a frozen nut in seconds.
