Air-Only Drive for Gassy Roadways
Methane and combustible dust accumulations call for equipment that removes ignition sources rather than merely controlling them. The Pneumatic Cable Bolt Tensioner converts compressed air into high-pressure hydraulic output and contains no electrical motor and no control circuit. The air-driven pump, tensioning jack and hose set is intended for mines with an existing compressed air network.
Air Motor and Exhaust Noise
Feature 1: The air motor accepts an input pressure of 0.4 MPa to 0.7 MPa. Because the unit has no electrical components, it does not generate electric arcs during operation.
Feature 2: An exhaust muffler is fitted to the air outlet to dampen noise from expanding exhaust gas. Pump noise: ≤85 dB (QYB-1.5/63) / ≤95 dB (QYB-3.0/63); the muffler reduces exhaust noise by about 15–20 dB compared with units without a muffler. Personnel should still use standard hearing protection against general underground ambient noise.
Feature 3: No electrical relays are used, so servicing is limited to air filtration and motor lubrication. At 16 kg, the pump can be carried between headings by one person.

Where the Air-Driven Setup Fits
In tunneling through high-gas coal seams, the pump draws on the mine air network to tension roof bolts. On civil sites with a large air compressor but no grid power, the pneumatic pump drives the jack without electrical supply. In metal mines facing sudden water ingress, the tool can be used without waiting for power cable routing.
Calibration and Packing
To match fluctuating mine air supply, the air motor's output can be calibrated at the factory. For humid or freezing conditions, modified seal materials are available to resist moisture and low temperature. Pumps and jacks are packed in solid wood crates with internal partitions.
