Measuring Bolt Angle on Acceptance

The Rock Bolt Angle Meter checks the installation angle of rock bolts, which the design calls for perpendicular to the roof. An off-angle bolt loses support effectiveness, so angle is a required acceptance check. The meter is a dial with a handle extension and a connector: the extension threads onto the bolt, aligning the meter with the bolt axis, and a gravity pointer reads the angle against the dial.

The dial face is large and marked across 0 to 180 degrees. Connected to the bolt, the pointer hangs under gravity and indicates the angle between the bolt and the horizontal; the reading takes seconds and needs no power.
